
Raphael Moissis

Raphael Moissis was born in 1933 in Thessaloniki and spent his school years at Athens College and Whittingehame College, Brighton, England. A mechanical engineer with First Class Honours from the University of Manchester, he completed his studies at MIT, where he received the degrees of Master of Science and Doctor of Science. He began his professional career as an Associate Professor at the MIT School of Mechanical Engineering and, upon returning to Greece, divided his professional employment approximately equally between the private and public sectors of the economy. Dominant in the former was his position as Chairman of the Board of Directors at AB Vassilopoulos, while in the second he held the positions of Deputy Governor of ETVA, Governor of PPC, President, successively, of ATTIKO METRO, DEPA and the National Energy Strategy Council. His social activities include the creation of the MIT Alumni Association in Greece and his participation in various positions in the Executive Committee of SEV, the Board of Directors of Athens College, the Food Bank, the ALBA School, the College Year in Athens School and the Energy Committee of the Academy of Athens.
