Takis Athanasopoulos

Takis Athanasopoulos served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of IOBE (2014-2019), while he was a Member of the Board of Directors of the Foundation during the years 1997-2000 and 2010-2024. Production Engineer with postgraduate studies and a PhD in business administration from the Illinois Institute of Technology (1972). He taught at universities in the US and at the University of Piraeus, where he served as Rector (1987-1990) and is Professor Emeritus (1999). Founding member, President and CEO of Toyota Hellas (1989-2000), Executive Vice President of Toyota Europe (2001-2006) and Managing Officer of Toyota Motor Corporation (2004-2006). Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Star of the Emperor of Japan (2007). Chairman and CEO of PPC (2007-2009), Chairman of the Private Property Development Fund of the State (2012-2013). Chairman of the Board of Directors of AGET Heracles, member of the LafargeHolcim Group (2014-2020), Vice Chairman of the Board of Neptune Lines Shipping and Managing Enterprises (2015-present), Member of the Board of Union Motors Ltd-Israel (2016-present), Transparency International-Greece (2016-2019), ELVALHALCOR and Chairman of the Audit Committee (May 2019-2020), Advisor of Steelmet S.A (2020-present), Member of the Board of Directors of ETEM/GESTAMP S.A.- Bulgaria (2021- present).
