
Michael Cortesis
ex Chairman of the BoD, Entrepreneur
Graduate of the German School of Athens. He studied Economics (Volkswirtschaftslehre) at the Albert – Ludwig University in Freiburg (pre-diploma) and continued (1978-82) with studies in Business Administration (Betriebswirtschaftslehre) at the Albertus Magnus University in Cologne. He received his master’s degree in Computer Science from the President Oswald Scholar Pennsylvania State University (1982-84) and his doctorate in the same field from the Albertus Magnus University in Cologne. He worked as an analyst at Infoplan GmbH Roesrath in Cologne (1981-82), as General Manager at Computer Systems and Software GmbH in Frankfurt (1984-86) and subsequently (1987-89) as General Manager at Infokraft in Athens. In 1989 he became General Manager of AMKO S.A. in Heraklion, Crete and Representative of FORD, and in 1991-94 General Manager of ELMA S.A., representative of MAZDA for Greece. and in 1995 he became Vice President and CEO of the Cortesis Group of Companies (STAKOR, KRIKOS, AMKO, ELMA ELVAT, Cinepark, etc.). In 2006 he became Chairman of the Board of Directors of IOBE, while between 2007 and 2009 he was a member of the Board of Directors of PPC.
