(1997-2016) and as a director in companies active in trade, logistics, and shipping.He was Special Advisor to the Executive Vice President of Société Nationale Elf Aquitaine (1990–1994), Head of the Commodity Risk Management Unit at the World Bank (1984–1990), and Officer at the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (1982–1984). He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania and degrees from the Universities of Geneva, Lausanne, and Athens.
