Chairman of the Alpha Bank Cultural Foundation
He is Professor Emeritus at the University of Athens and since 2016 Ordinary Member of the Academy of Athens. He studied BA and holds a Master’s degree in Economics from Lakehead University, Canada and a PhD from Queen’s University, Canada. He was Deputy Governor and Governor of the Mortgage Bank (1995-1998), Chairman of the BoD of the Hellenic Telecommunications Organization (1998-2000) and Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisors (2000-2004) as well as Chairman of the BoD of the National Bank of Greece (2009-2012) and of the Hellenic Bank Association (2009-2012 and 2021-2023). From May 2014 to December 2024, he was Chairman of the BoD of Alpha Bank, and since January 2025 he is Chairman of the Alpha Bank Cultural Foundation.
