Food and Beverages Industry. Facts & Figures 2025

The study examines the sector’s contribution to the Greek economy, as well as recent developments in the food and beverage industry. The Food and Beverage Industry is the largest sector of the Greek manufacturing industry, with a turnover of €26.2 billion, and accounts for 27% of the total value added of the Greek manufacturing sector (€4.7 billion). At the same time, it is the largest employer in the manufacturing sector, with more than 162,000 direct employees.

Exports of the industry have doubled over the past decade, reaching €7.4 billion in 2025 and accounting for 15% of total Greek exports. At the same time, the sector’s contribution to the country’s productive capacity is also reflected in investments, which exceeded €1 billion in 2024 and €7.2 billion during the 2015–2024 period. Furthermore, it is noted that in 2023, the domestic food, beverage, and tobacco industry allocated €56.5 million to research and development projects, a figure corresponding to approximately 10.5% of total R&D spending in Greece.
