Quarterly Report on the Greek Economy
IOBE has been publishing the report since 1980; it has become a benchmark for the systematic and impartial overview of developments in the Greek economy, highlighting convergences and divergences with the rest of Europe, as well as publishing medium-term estimates for the course of domestic macroeconomic variables. It includes an executive summary and three additional thematic sections.
The second section presents the broader environment and covers European and global developments and prospects, the domestic economic climate as measured by IOBE’s business surveys, fiscal developments, and trends in the financial system.
The third section presents recent trends in key macroeconomic indicators and medium-term estimates for their development. It describes developments in the activity of key sectors of the Greek economy (manufacturing, construction, services) and of key industries. Emphasis is given to the external balance, with an analysis of export performance, as well as to trends in the labor market and inflation, compared with corresponding trends in Europe.
The fourth section presents a special study or analysis on a topical issue.
Each issue also includes Special Frames, which are brief and self-contained analyses on selected current topics that are not repeated but are connected to the themes of the Report. Overall, the Report aims to inform, document economic trends, and highlight challenges and priorities regarding the conduct of economic policy.
