Firstly, to support the economy’s adjustment through more flexible labour markets and secondly, to enhance gains in cost competitiveness. The study highlights the savings and investment "gap" recently recorded in Greece compared to other countries and highlights the importance of stimulating domestic investment through initiatives to strengthen the domestic capital market. Financing the Εlectricity Sector Investments during the Economic Recession

The scope of the study was to examine the impact of the economic crisis on the riskiness of electricity sector investments and to outline instruments that provide additional funding for such investments. The study analysed the availability of debt and equity funding from the banking sector and the Greek stock exchange and presented national support instruments, cross-country mechanisms and EU funding schemes. The study also contained a set of policy suggestions on reducing the investment risk in the electricity sector.
