The contribution of Manufacturing to the economy of the Attica Region

Category: Microeconomic Analysis
SubCategory: Others
Date: 13/11/2024

The Region of Attica is the main economic centre of the country. With Athens as its capital, it is home to 36% of the country's population, as well as the activities of many businesses, administrative services, universities, research centres and other organisations. In addition, the port of Piraeus is a major transit station for goods and an international transport hub. The proximity to the largest urban centre of the country offers a significant comparative advantage for the development of manufacturing activities. The population size of the Attica Region, the concentration of educational and research activities and its central position on the routes of international trade in goods offer significant advantages for the further development of innovative and competitive industrial activities in Attica, while respecting the environment and sustainable development objectives. The aim of the study is to record and highlight the contribution of manufacturing to the economy of the Attica Region and the country as a whole. In addition, the study aims to highlight the main challenges and prospects for the further development of the sector in Attica.
